Susan Whatley, APRN, FNP-C
Executive Director & Founder

  • Susan Whatley serves as Executive Director/Nurse Practitioner and founded the clinic in April 2016. She has over 12 years of nursing experience, with a focus in the areas of cardio-thoracic surgery, internal medicine, and nephrology. She also has minor experience in the areas of geriatric medicine, gynecology, cardiology, vascular surgery, and pediatrics.

Lauren Fyock, BSN, RN
Clinic Manager

  • Lauren is a Registered Nurse with over 17 years of experience in a variety of cardiac related areas including inpatient acute care, outpatient clinical care, cardiovascular imaging, STEMI program coordination and hospital accreditation. She established a female cardiac support network utilizing a holistic approach to disease prevention through health and wellness coaching, exercise/movement classes and nutritional education.

Rachel Barber, MSSW
Director of Development

  • Rachel Barber has nearly 20 years of experience working with non-profit organizations in the areas of resource development, community outreach and marketing. She joined UCA in February of 2020 and is thrilled to help grow the capacity of the clinic to serve even more patients in need of care. Rachel received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Rachel lives in the Grant Park neighborhood with her husband and two young children.

Millie Brabham, APRN, FNP-C
Nurse Practitioner

  • Millie Brabham is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. When she and her family moved to the Atlanta area in 2017, she started volunteering with Urban Health and Wellness which led to a staff position. Millie is a graduate of Georgia College and State University with her Masters in Science in Nursing. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Millie served as a Registered Nurse for 15 years, working mostly in adult Intensive Care Units.

    In her spare time Millie loves spending time with her husband and two boys, hiking, running, traveling, and being with friends and family. Millie is active in her church and is honored to serve and advise her patients towards positive, holistic health outcomes.

Markeisha Johnson
Receptionist

  • Markeisha joined the clinic in July 2024. She has a passion for people and a heart to serve others. She received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from San Diego Christian College. Her goal is to own her own non-profit music academy to help other artists be successful using the gifts God gave them. In her spare time, Markeisha enjoys writing music and singing, spending time with loved ones, and playing with her mini poodle Cobi.

Anshu Dendukuri
Medical Assistant

  • Anshu is a medical assistant at the Urban Clinic of Atlanta and is a current 3rd year student at Georgia Tech. She has a future interest in working as a physician, specifically interested in playing a role in improving healthcare systems in our country. She has been loving her time working in the clinic and interacting with a diverse set of patients! In her free time, she loves hanging out with her dog, cooking or baking, and spending time outside.

Damali Marshall, APRN, FNP-C
Nurse Practitioner

  • Damali Marshall has over 15 years experience as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner serving the Greater Metro Atlanta area. She found UCA a few years back through a volunteer opportunity and loved the mission of the clinic.

    Damali has always loved working in community health and she looks forward to being a part of the UCA family. In her spare time, she loves attending beauty events spending time with family and finding great restaurants.

Keri Painter, Medical Assistant
Phlebotomist & Lab Technician

  • Keri Painter joined UCA in July of 2021 as the phlebotomist & lab technician. She received her medical assistant & phlebotomy certificate from Sanford-Brown College. Keri has previous experience as a MA & phlebotomist with multiple general practitioners, urgent care, & lab companies.

Christiana Thompson
Patient Care Coordinator

  • Christiana joined The Urban Clinic of Atlanta in March 2024. She has a background working in the nonprofit sector. She is a Mass Communication graduate from Georgia Southern University (2021). She is currently pursuing her masters in strategic communications and digital marketing.

Ruhi D. Patel
Medical Assistant

  • Ruhi joined the clinic in March 2024, first as a volunteer then as a medical assistant. She will receive her Bachelors of Neuroscience with a minor in Health and Medical Sciences in December 2024 from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Ruhi has a passion for wanting to make an impact through service and her goal is to go to medical school and become a physician in the upcoming years. In her spare time, Ruhi enjoys dancing, spending time with friends, and playing with her dog.

Our Board of Directors

Dan Ayers, PA-C
Board Chair

  • Dan Ayers, PA-C is originally from the Northern Virginia area. He began his PA career in Moultrie, Georgia as the first PA in the county. Mr. Ayers brings with him over 25 years of medical experience with a strong background in internal medicine, emergency medicine, bariatrics, plastic surgery and most recently, oncology. He relocated to Atlanta September 2018 to work with the lymphoma, leukemia and bone marrow transplant services at Winship Cancer Institute/Emory University Hospital. In his free time, Dan enjoys traveling with his wife, Stephanie, and their two daughters, Maddie and Caroline. He and Stephanie are active members of Influencers Church in Duluth.

Megan Boissonneault, MD
Volunteer Medical Director

  • Megan is an Emergency Medicine Physician at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She completed her residency training at Emory University in 2018 and earned her medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She began her career in the medical field as a Registered Nurse prior to becoming a physician.

Gaynielle Scott, BSN, RN
Member

  • Gaynielle has been an operating room nurse for over 5 years, specializing in Trauma and Robotic surgery, most recently at Grady Memorial Hospital. Prior to her nursing career, Gaynielle worked in hospitality management at several renowned international hospitality corporations, including MC-2, Sandals, Sheraton, and Marriott.

    Gaynielle hails from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She loves travelling, playing monopoly, and spending time with her husband Greg, daughters, Grier and Graysen, and cats, Klai and Mya.

    Gaynielle believes in the mission of The Urban Clinic of Atlanta and is honored to serve on the board.

Chris Brannon
Vice Chair (Chair, Governance)

  • Chris Brannon joined the Board for The Urban Clinic of Atlanta in 2019. He is an attorney who practices Estate Planning and Elder Law in metro Atlanta with Brannon Napier Elder Law. Chris earned his BBA in Banking Finance from UGA’s Terry College of Business in 2002 and graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2005. Chris lives in Decatur and learned about UHW when Susan came to speak to the Decatur Rotary Club.

Ian Brynside
Member

  • Ian Byrnside currently serves as the Secretary on UCA’s Board of Directors. Ian is a trial lawyer and Partner at Baker & Hostetler LLP, where he focuses his practice on healthcare, media, and First Amendment litigation. Ian has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Duke University, and a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School. Ian lives in Marietta with his wife and son.

Christopher Turner
Member

  • Christopher is a Financial Advisor at Reveal Wealth. He specializes in working with professionals and business owners. Many of his clients are physicians, nurse practitioners, and therapists.

    Christopher resides in Atlanta with his 3 children Layla, Axel, and Brooke. In addition to his board service as Treasurer with UCA, he is on the board of Academy M, LLC and member of the Onerace Movement.

Brian Keida
Treasurer (Chair, Finance)

  • Brian Keida joined the UCA board in 2024. He is a CPA, with over 20 years of experience, specializing in real estate and taxation. Brian is currently Tax Managing Director with PwC. He earned his Master's of Taxation from Georgia State University in 2012 and his Bachelor of Science degree from Marist College in 2003. Brian lives in Grant Park with his wife and their two daughters. Brian enjoys traveling with his family and volunteering in the community.

Melanie Henry
Member

  • Melanie has spent the past 10+ years in various roles within product marketing, product management, and data science consulting. As a result, she’s experienced in leading the planning and execution of successful marketing, product, and data strategies. She has a passion for helping organizations extract value from their data and is grateful for the opportunity to fulfill that mission in her current role as a Senior Product Marketing Manager at Informatica, a data management solutions provider. Melanie is a native of Atlanta and is enthusiastic about serving in her community.

    Melanie holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master’s in International Business from Georgia State University.

Matt McCabe
Secretary

  • Matt McCabe is a management consultant that works with state governments on agency modernization projects. Before consulting, he was a public policy analyst for the State of Virginia. Matt has a Masters of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He lives with his wife and daughter in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood.

Amaris Landis
Member (Chair, Development)

  • Amaris Landis has had a career as an HR senior leader for various organizations including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Home Depot and Bain & Company. She has experience leading all functions of HR with expertise in coaching and advising senior leaders, developing strategic people plans, creating recruitment and retention strategies, leading succession planning and development plans, advising on employee relations and overseeing organizational design and change.

    Amaris currently stays home with her daughters and volunteers at their school in various capacities. She also serves at Buckhead Church by leading newly married small groups and at the Atlanta Mission. Amaris is married to Justin and has three girls Maggie, Ellie and Annie.
