The Urban Clinic of Atlanta provides free healthcare, education, and support to those who are uninsured in Metro Atlanta.
Our vision and hope are the most medically underserved adults in our community have improved health and wellness and are treated with dignity and respect as we seek to be examples of God’s love for all humankind.
Our history
The clinic opened its doors as Urban Health and Wellness in April 2016, beginning as a volunteer-driven project housed at an Urban Recipe food co-op in Atlanta’s Grant Park neighborhood.
Guided by the vision and leadership of Susan Whatley, the clinic was founded to address critical gaps in access to primary care for uninsured and low-income adults. Today, The Urban Clinic of Atlanta (UCA) remains the only nonprofit clinic in Fulton County providing 100% free primary care services to uninsured and low-income adults.
In 2026, UCA marked its 10th anniversary by merging with Good Shepherd Clinic, a similarly sized free clinic located in Morrow, GA.
With a combined 35 years of service to our communities, UCA is strengthening its reach, expanding access to care, and deepening its commitment to health equity. As a unified organization operating under UCA’s leadership, we look forward to creating greater impact and lasting change for the individuals we serve.
